Security personnel among 12 killed in Mingora blastMINGORA: At least 12 people were killed including two security personnel and 4 women while 37 others were hurt in a suicide blast in Mingora, Swat on Monday.

Eye witnesses said a suicide bomber rammed himself into a vehicle of security forces causing a loud blast.

The powerful explosion also damaged a number of vehicles parked nearby as well as shops, DIG Malakand Muhammad Idrees Khan said. However, he said nothing could be said at this point about the blast being suicidal.

The security forces cordoned off the area after the blast while the injured were shifted to Saido Sharif Hospital where emergency was declared.

Eight of the wounded brought to the hospital are in critical condition, said the MS of the hospital. Four seriously injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.

Security has been high alerted in Mingora following the tragic incident, police sources said.

Bannu twin blasts toll climbs to 15; curfew imposedBANNU: The death toll in Bannu twin blasts has mounted to 15 including 9 policemen while over 30 police personnel have been injured Thursday, police source said.

A blast ripped through Bannu police line 2, one kilometer from Bannu central market that injured several policemen, police said.

The second blast occurred at the same site where rescue and relief activities were underway. It killed 15 people including 9 police personnel and injured over 30 others including DPO Bannu Iqbal Marwat.

DMS District Headquarters Hospital Bannu told Geo News that 5 bodies were brought to the facility out of which 9 were clad in police uniform. Other bodies also appear to be those of policemen in civvies, he added.

Dr. Hafeez said the condition of DPO Bannu is in critical condition and that medical treatment is being provided to him.

Curfew has been imposed in Bannu following the deadly blasts.

11 Khasadars among 17 die in Jamrud attack KHYBER AGENCY: At least 17 people were killed, including 11 personnel of the paramilitary Khasadar force, and eight others wounded on Wednesday when a suicide blast struck a police patrol vehicle in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency.

Sources close to Khasadar forces told Geo that the suicide bomber below himself up near Khasadar mobile vehicle when it was passing through Wazir Dand area on Pak-Afghan Shahrah.

Eleven Khasadar personnel died and eight others sustained injuries in the attack. In addition, six passers-by were also killed.

A line officer was also among the martyrs.

The injured were shifted to hospitals of Peshawar. Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area and initiated investigation into the incident.

FIRs for twin bombings registered

FIRs for twin bombings registeredKARACHI: FIRS have been registered against unidentified miscreants for yesterday bomb blasts at Nursery area at Sharah-e-Faisal and Jinnah Hospital, Geo News reported Saturday.

The FIR for Nursery blast has been registered with SHO Ferozabad Police station Aurangzeb as plaintiff. The FIR has been registered under Clause-324 and 302 for possessing explosives and Anti-Terrorism Act Clause-7.

The FIR for the Jinnah Hospital blast has been registered at Saddar Police station with Sub-inspector Niaz as plaintiff. The same clauses as above have been invoked in the FIR.

Funeral prayers of Karachi blast victims offeredKARACHI: The combined funeral prayers of 14 people martyred in yesterday’s twin planted bombs on Sharah-e-Faisal have been offered, Geo News reported Saturday.

Allama Kausar Abbas Naqvi led the funeral prayers.

People in large number gathered at Husaini Mission RCD Ground well ahead the funeral prayers were offered, as Karachi presented a deserted look.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers kept sealed the areas around the funeral ground. The markets and commercial centers yesterday announced to remain closed.

The leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) also were present on the occasion.

All the deceased would be laid to rest at Model Colony cemetery.

According to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) announcement, the funeral prayers of their workers martyred in bombing at Jinnah Hospital, would be offered after Zuhr prayers at Jinnah Ground.

The funeral services for the Christian people who were killed in bombing at Jinnah Hospital, would be observed at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral today and they would be laid to rest at the cemetery near FTC on Sharah-e-Faisal.

The deceased whose funeral prayers were offered included Anjum Hussain, Babar Ali, Zahid Ali, Asif Hussain, Kazim Hussain, Shehanshah Hussain, Salman Hussain, Shahid Ali s/o Rajab Ali, Toqeer Hussain s/o Zameer Hussain, Muhammed Ali s/o Muhammed Ashfaque, Ahmed s/o Muhammed Taqi, Zain s/o Sohrab Hyder, Anwar Abbas and Amir Hussain

At least 22 dead in Karachi bomb blasts KARACHI: At least 22 people were killed and several others were wounded on Friday after two bombs planted on motorcycles struck a bus at Shahra-e-Faisal and Jinnah Hospital in Karachi.

Women and children were among 12 people killed when a motorcyle packed with explosives rammed into a bus of mourners travelling on Shahra-e-Faisal to join a procession at the end of the holy Muslim month of Muharram.

A second bomb attack near the emergency ward at Jinnah Hospital, where the dead and wounded were being rushed, killed another 10 people.

Witnesses and officials said the bus was packed with mourners heading to a religious procession to mark the last day of Muharram in Karachi.

The attacks were carried out by suicide bombers on motorcycles, a bomb disposal official said.

"Both of the blasts are of the same nature. Both were suicide and both were on motorcycles," Munir Ahmad Sheikh, told Geo.

"In the first attack, the bomber hit the bus. In the second attack, the bomber sitting on a motorcycle exploded himself," he added.

12 dead, 50 hurt in Karachi blast

KARACHI: At least 12 people were killed and over 50 others injured when a powerful explosion occurred in a public vehicle plying on Sharah-e-Faisal of Karachi, media reported Friday.

According to Geo News, the blast occurred in a mini bus near Nursery stop towards FTC. The injured riding a mini bus coming from Malir, include children and women.

Police and other rescue workers have arrived on the spot. The road leading to Saddar has been blocked and the blast site has been cordoned off.

According to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred near a furniture market situated near the Sharah-e-Faisal.

The Geo News correspondent said at least 50 people were injured in the blast, who have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Various injured are in critical state. Also a body has been moved from the scene.

All the casualties have been moved from the blast scene.

According to eyewitnesses, a motorcyclist hit the ill-fated vehicle to cause the mishap. The bus was completely damaged in the blast.

The Jinnah Hospital sources confirmed to Geo News of at least 11 deaths.

After the blast, people gathered to protest and are still raising slogans against the government and police. People in large number gathered at Jinnah Hospital as well.

According to Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed said 12 people were killed in the tragic incident.

On this occasion, the shia ulema urged the mourners at the main procession and on the blast site to stay calm.

SP Umar Khattab said the initial evidences showed that blast was not a suicidal in nature.

Bomb strikes Jinnah Hospital, 10 deadKARACHI: At least 10 people were killed and 50 others were wounded on Friday after another powerful bomb hit the Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital.

The blast took place at a time when the dead and the injured of Shahra-e-Faisal blast were being shifted to the hospital’s Emergency Ward. The blast left more than 50 people injured.

A large number of relatives of the first blast victims were present at the time of second blast.

The panic and fear gripped the hospital after the blast, in which paramedical staff and media persons were also affected.

The injured were now being rushed to Civil Hospital and city’s other private hospitals.

It may be reminded here that 12 people were killed and many more injured in a blast at Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi.

So far 22 people have embraced martyrdom in the two blasts.
